ABOUT THE DESTINATION
The region of Vojvodina occupies a place in the north of Serbia, more precisely in the Pannonian Plain. The main tourist sites of this region are Novi Sad, Subotica and Lake Palic.
Novi Sad is a city that was first mentioned in 1694, when the construction of the Petrovaradin Fortress, which is also its main attraction, began. Novi Sad, a city of culture, gastronomy and “easy-going” lifestyle. The university city with over 50,000 students at any time, a number of faculties from which renowned experts in various fields come, proudly carried the title of European Capital of Youth in 2019. Novi Sad is the European Capital of Culture for 2022. Petrovaradin Fortress, one of the largest and best preserved in Europe with underground military galleries, and a workshop for manufacture of artistic tapestries, which is one of only five in Europe, will not leave you indifferent. The cultural offer of the city, in addition to museums, galleries, theaters and cultural centers, consists of cultural stations, created in places such as the former silk dyeing factory. Cultural stations represent the gathering place for artists, visitors and business world attending various educations and events. Close to Novi Sad, National Park Fruska gora, well known for its complex of Serbian Orthodox monasteries, unique landscapes, numerous local wine producers and places that offer the opportunity to fully experience its rich Vojvodina cuisine, is located. During the year, more than 200 festivals are held in Novi Sad, both indoors and outdoors.
HOW TO GET TO NOVI SAD
Novi Sad is located in the Pannonian valley, at the crossroads of the river Corridor VII and inland Corridor X and it is easily accessible from all directions and by all means of transport. The City is located on the European highway direction E-75 that connects the central with the southern and eastern part of the continent, and only fifty kilometres from it passes another road direction, E-70, that connects the western and eastern Europe. The border crossings with Croatia, Hungary, Romania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are from 50 to 120 kilometres away from Novi Sad.
